Hot Rod of the Year Award Highlights All American Nationals – INDIANAPOLIS!

top_logo

The Goodguys 2014 TANKS Inc. Hot Rod of the Year award will be contested at the Goodguys All American Nationals – INDIANAPOLIS June 6-8 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. That’s in like 3 weeks!  The award has been presented at a Goodguys event held in Indianapolis since 2006. It was presented at the Hot Rod Nationals from 2006-2010, then moved to the Speedway Nationals from 2011-2013.

Unlike any other Goodguys Top 12 award, the winning car must exhibit drivability, performance and killer looks as well as a hot rod stance. Although it will now be held at an event which features all years, makes and models of American made and American powered cars, the award criteria remains unchanged, open to 1948 & earlier hot rods only.

Here’s a helpful blow-by-blow on how to enter your hot rod!

Goodguys 2014 TANKS Inc Hot Rod of the Year Award
Presented at: Goodguys All American Nationals – INDIANPOLIS, June 6-8, Indiana State Fairgrounds
Who’s Eligible: Hot Rods 1948 & earlier
Basic Criteria: It makes noise; it’s regularly street driven, has attitude and screams “Hot Rod.” No cream puffs!
How to Enter: Cars interested in competing for Hot Rod of the Year need to enter the “Hot Rod of the Year” staging area at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Friday morning 6/6 @ 9:30am. The cars will then leave the fairgrounds at 10am sharp, make a pit stop at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in Carmel IN (to see their Indy cars and race shop) then 42-miles north to “A Summer Place” (‘50s style diner and theme park) in Sharpsville for lunch. Lunch is $15 with proceeds going to charity.

From “A Summer Place” the contestants will take the 45-mile trip down to Lucas Oil Raceway Park at Indianapolis for the required 1/8th mile drag strip fun runs (Times and speeds posted during the drag & brag will not determine the overall winner but style points do count!). From the dragstrip – all HROY contestants are free to go their own way for the remainder of the day. All contestants must return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Saturday morning 6/7 and park in the TANKS Inc. Hot Rod of the Year special parking area to receive their final confirmation sticker. The selection committee will then look over the cars to determine the five finalists. The top five finalists will be announced Saturday afternoon. For Sunday’s awards ceremony, the five finalists will be parked together inside the winner’s circle. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the Sunday awards ceremony.

If you’ve got a ’48 or older hot rod that makes noise, looks good and has a bad attitude, why not enter the competition for the Goodguys 2014 Tank’s Hot Rod of the Year Competition!
