Following JF Launier’s thrilling Ridler win at the Detroit AutoRama in March, he and his radical ’64 Buick “Rivision” are heading to Columbus this summer for the Goodguys 17th PPG Nationals July 11-13. His aim? Capturing the Goodguys 2014 Optima Batteries Street Machine of the Year award. He’ll also have the car on hand at the Goodguys 13th Great Northwest Nationals August 15-17 in Spokane (where he selects the Goodguys Builder’s Choice awards) – a short distance from his home in Osyoos, British Columbia.
Rivision is a land mark car. Part sports car, part muscle car, part street machine, its front half is all ’64 Rivvy. The boat tail backside has the look of a ’71 Buick and was hand formed from sheet metal on an English wheel as were the fenders. The body is 6-inches wider than stock, extended 3-inches on each side. All metal fab on the car was done by Launier himself in his JF Kustoms/Desert Speed Shop in Osoyoos, British Columbia. Mike Curtis of Curtis Speed did the grill, one off wheels and some other high quality parts & pieces.
Under the hood lies a radical twin turbo LS motor pumping out 850 horsepower. The twin turbo units are in the trunk area in back of the seats. The side venting and plumbing required and how it all works would make a Formula 1 team take notice!
Plan on spending some time looking at Rivision in Columbus and Spokane if you’re attending!
