Justin Padfield and his team at Scott’s Hot Rods in Oxnard, CA continue to make progress on the Goodguys C-10 Giveaway truck, scheduled to debut this July at the Goodguys 17th PPG Nationals in Columbus July 11-13.
Just last week, the Scott’s Hot Rods team made a new top window channel when they discovered the original one was rusted and “looked like crap.” In addition to making a new front windshield channel, they changed the upper most profile-line of the roof, giving it a much sleeker look.
This truck will be incredibly nice. And LOW! When it sits on the pavement, the truck will be just 4 inches off the ground and the top will be just 57-inches tall!
Design elements currently being hand crafted include a recessed grill & headlights, side exit exhaust, raised bumpers, reduced drip rail, custom scalloped side trim and many other subtleties. The striking color is a modern take on mid 60s Lindale blue. PPG will supply the paint which will be sprayed by Palmer’s Custom. As you can see from Black’s rendering, the wheels are Billet Specialties Bonneville-G series wrapped in red striped rubber. The interior will be an orange/red two-tone blend with other neutral colors stitched by Ron Mangus.
The truck will feature a Linginfelter LS3 engine and TCI Automotive Transmission and controller. It will be AutoCross worthy with Scott’s own tube chassis, Scott’s IFS and standard 4-bar rear with a Scott’s Watts link, Ridetech coilovers, Wilwood brakes, a Moose rear end and more.
