After winning the Goodguys 2013 Optima Batteries Street Machine of the Year award with his “GPT Special” ’69 Torino last weekend in Columbus, Memphis hot rodder & racer George Poteet was in a good mood. A very good mood!
During his Street Machine of the Year award acceptance speech, Poteet looked at his fellow award finalists and flatly declared “I’ll pay for all the fuel and hotel rooms for all these guys on the Goodguys Texas Road Tour this fall.” He then upped the ante even more by offering the same deal to the Top 5 Goodguys 2013 Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year finalists and winner Ron Cizek!
The generous offer proved what we’ve all known for a long, long time. George Poteet is not only good for hot rodding, he’s pure class and a real southern gentleman!
The Goodguys Texas Road Tour Poteet was referring to will take 50 rodders from Goodguys World Headquarters in Pleasanton, California to the 21st Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway.
