The 2009 Classic Instruments “Trophy Dash” National award winner is Scott and Laura Taylor’s menacing ’68 Mustang from Sacramento, CA. The Taylor’s mean Mustang was first spotted this year in Pleasanton where it was selected as a finalist for the Detroit Speed Muscle Machine of the Year award.
When the gates opened in Columbus for the 12th PPG Nationals, the ‘Stang was on the scene, thrashing through the Street Challenge Autocross in an attempt at the Ridetech Street Machine of the Year award. It was also in Columbus that the Classic Instruments staff selected it as a Trophy Dash winner before being selected over five other finalists as the National Winner.
The Mustang features an aluminum 427 (that dyno’d 705 hp), Art Morrison Max-G frame, Ridetech suspension, Classic Instruments gauges, wood steering wheel, BF Goodrich rubber and one of the nicest PPG paint job’s you’ll see featuring red skunk stripes. Harry’s Hot Rods in Sacramento gets credit for the build.
The Trophy Dash is open to any registered car or truck at Goodguys events using one of Classic’s line of standard gauges, custom designed gauges, or a Classic RetroFit redesigned original gauge assembly. Be sure to check out their website www.classicinstruments.com
