4th Spring Nationals Recap – Season Starts off Strong in Scottsdale!

-Westworld was jumpin all weekend

The Goodguys 30th anniversary season got off to a great start last weekend in Scottsdale. The excitement and enthusiasm for a brand new year of Goodguys Goodtimes was palpable as rodders, vendors, AutoCrossers and enthusiasts readied for the big show. A hot rod cruise followed by a lively kickoff party @ Young Guns Designs set the table for the big weekend.

-The 4th Spring Nationals served as the official kickoff event to the Goodguys 30th Anniversary season! Salute!

Then things got interesting! Friday morning dawned wet and ominous. Despite morning showers – the rodders would not be denied their rounds, braving windy rainy conditions to come out and see what was new this season. A whale of a storm blew through later Friday afternoon preventing the AutoCross racers (who were chomping at the bit) to get on-track.

-San Ramon's Brian Hobaugh won the Goodguys AutoCross Shootout with a 38.650 lap time in his '65 Corvette. He also won the Street Machine class among other awards!

Saturday again dawned gray but the crowds came anyways enjoying a giant Saturday show & shine despite cool temperatures. Almost a full day of AutoCross action was logged as over 1,700 rods, customs, muscle cars, classics and tricked out trucks made the scene.

-Bruce Maples of Tucson took home the Hemming's Muscle Car of the Year Finalist award with his '70 Cuda

Sunday was simply bliss! Chamber of Commerce weather and giant crowds filled Westworld to the brink finishing off what was a great start to the Goodguys 2013 campaign.

-Scott & Esther Dungan of St Helena, CA won the Goodguys 2013 LMC Truck of the Year Late Finalist award
