Street Machines Bring the Big Bucks at Barrett-Jackson 2013!

-The Goodguys booth was a big hit with the "Tribute '32" Grand Prize Giveaway Car. These gals stopped by the booth for a peek

Goodguys once again had the pleasure of exhibiting at one of the world’s premier
classic automobile auctions – Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale @ Westworld. It was a great week of celebrating all things automotive while passing out our 2013 event schedules and showing off the Kindig-It Design-built “Tribute ‘32” Grand Prize Giveaway Car.

This year’s auction saw the usual wide array of rods & customs but featured a heavier dose of hi-profile Street Machines. When it came to the bidding, especially on “Super Saturday” – the Street Machines and Pro Touring cars brought the big dollars bringing back the good old days of Goodguys show-winners fetching upwards of $300,000. That trend had noticeably cooled in recent years but based on this year’s sale results is back at a fever pitch.

If you ever get the chance to attend Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale or any of their events for that matter – go! It’s exciting as well as educational! Here’s a look at some of this year’s signature sales (prices include commissions):

-1934 Ford “Flashback” custom roadster originally built by Rick Dore and finalist for the Goodguys West Coast Custom of the Year award, sold for $74,800.00

-Former Goodguys Low Lid pick and Rodder’s Journal cover car – the Squeeg’s built ’41 Ford Custom, sold for $93,500.00

-2006 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year Finalist, Bobby Alloway-built ’70 Dodge Challenger sold for $192,500.00

-2009 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year Winner – Barry Blomquist’s Roadster Shop-Built ’62 Corvette “C1RS”, sold for $360,000

-Royce Glader’s Pinkee’s Rod Shop-built ’66 Mustang “Smokin’ Oats” – a former Goodguys Builder’s Choice winner in 2011, sold for $143,000.00. Photo courtesy of Robert McGaffin www.mcgaffinphoto.com

-2010 Goodguys Truck of the Year (Late) Winner – Barry Blomquist’s ’56 Ford F-100, sold for $176,000.00

-2011 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year Finalist – the Ringbros-built “Dragon” ’70 Mustang Mach 1, sold for $315,000

-2012 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year Winner – Gary Bowers’ Ringbros-Built “Producer” ’65 Mustang sold for $286,000.00

Topping the Super Saturday sales was the original George Barris-built “Batmobile” 1955 Lincoln Futura Custom, which whipped the crowd into a frenzy by bringing 4.2 million dollars!  It was the second highest-selling car in Barrett-Jackson history. Congratulations from all of us at Goodguys George!
