Frank & Mary Lawrence’s ’48 Chevy pickup has been named Goodguys 2012 Street Rod Headquarters Truck of the Year-Early. After making its debut at the 2011 SEMA Show – the flawless pickup was chosen as a finalist for the Truck of the Year award at the Goodguys Fall Del Mar Nationals last year. The award is designed to honor an outstanding pre’-’53 tricked out truck.
The chopped top, lengthened doors and section body are just a few of the 80 body mods on the ’48 Chevy from Bakersfield, California. It sits on a custom chassis by Ironworks Speed & Kustom featuring Wilwood brakes and Schott wheels. Power is courtesy of a hard charging 376ci LSX with a Magnuson supercharger. Ironworks handled the entire build for the Lawrence’s under the watchful eye of Rodger Lee.
Ron Mangus was called in to the bring the interior up to world class standards with yards of tan leather interior, a cut-down factory steering wheel and plenty of polished accents. The color, a cinnamon/sun kissed hue is called “naughty spice.”
