Hot Rod craftsman Dave Lane of Fastlane Rod Shop in Donahue, Iowa is making the Builder’s Choice award selections at the Goodguys 11th Midwestern Nationals August 31st -Sept 2nd at Kansas Speedway. Lane has also designed and manufactured the special awards in typical Lane fashion which means they’re pretty much the most bitchin things ever!
The red anodized, milled aluminum awards will go to the top 10 cars, as selected by Lane himself in the Goodguys Builder’s Choice special parking area open Saturday, Sept 1st from 7am to noon at Kansas Speedway. Nobody brings more enthusiasm and has a better eye for bitchin cars than Lane.
Many of you know his story and some don’t. Breaking onto the hot rodding scene in the early 90s, Lane became one of the industry’s top builders. Cars built by Lane have won the Goodguys Street Rod of the Year title four times. He also built the Goodguys Hot Rod of the Year in 2010 (Floyd Williams race inspired ’32 ford roadster). Lane’s style is very old school. He works all alone in his shop in Iowa, hand building his project cars one at a time – seemingly a lost art.
