Twenty-two year old Daniel Daviess will be embarking on a 1,500 mile journey next week in his late grandpa’s hot rod roadster. His destination? The Goodguys 25th Pacific Northwest Nationals in Puyallup, Washington.
Daniel is the grandson of the late STREET RODDER Magazine columnist Bill Burnham and son of Goodguys VP of Event Operation Harry Daviess. He and his dad Harry will jump in Burnham’s “Old Blue” ’29 Ford (still running strong and looking good after 30 years on the road) and boogey up the highway through northern California, the Willamette Valley in Oregon and on up to Washington state.
The journey to Puyallup will be Daniel’s first long distance road trip behind the wheel of his grandpa’s hot rod – long a dream. He grew up riding shotgun in the blue ‘29 Ford forging memories that have never left his soul. Hot rods and Goodguys events have been in his life since he was born.
He will be providing daily journal updates outlining the highlights of the road trip beginning Monday, July 23rd on the Goodguys Forum (www.goodguysforum.com) as well as updates to the Goodguys Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/goodguysrodandcustom).
Daviess just graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Cal State Stanislaus. While there on a full ride basketball scholarship, he starred on the team as a shooting guard all the while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. His plans for the remainder of summer include working alongside his father Harry at Goodguys events and in the fall he’ll begin looking for work in professional sports team operations and logistics.
Enjoy the ride Daniel!
