When Deb and Kip McLean of Mesa, Arizona came to the Goodguys 14th Southwest Nationals last fall at Westworld in Scottsdale, one of the first stops they made was the KOOL 94.5FM booth to fill out an entry ticket to win a 1965 Ford Galaxie. Turns out, it was a good move on their part.
The McLean’s drew the winning key (#14 out of 17) to start the stylish white muscle car (built by Drew Bros Customs in Chandler (http://www.drewbrotherscustoms.com) during last Sunday’s awards ceremony at the 3rd Spring Nationals. In an instant they went from being casual spectators to event participants – proud new owners of their first-ever show quality custom car. The Galaxie custom features a 390 ci big block Ford motor, Baer big brake kit, BOSS wheels, PPG paint, Grant steering wheel, Griffin radiator, Flowmaster exhaust, goodies from Edelbrock and more.
Visibly shaking with equal parts shock and excitement, Kip said “Wow – this is pretty neat” upon drawing the winning key. “I started getting pretty tense as the people before me wound up not having the right keys. When my key started the car there was only three of us left in the running! My hands were shaking so bad I had to use both of them to turn on the ignition.”
“The Drew Bros built an awesome car. You can see the quality work they put into this giveaway car. Thank you Goodguys, Drew Bros and KOOl FM for the new car” he exuded. While the couple’s immediate plans for the car included showing it off to family and friends, they vowed to return to this year’s 15th Southwest Nationals November 16-18, driving the very car they could only dream of winning last fall.
