Introducing Your Defending Vendor Class AutoCross Champion…Kyle Tucker

When it came to Vendor Class competition in the 2011 Goodguys AutoCross, nobody was more dominant than Kyle Tucker, co-founder of Detroit Speed & Engineering. Driving his big blue ’70 Camaro, Tucker won 5 of the 15 series events to win the 2011 class championship.

Tucker’s blue beast is set up to corner like mad – sporting a Detroit Speed Hydroformed Front Subframe, DSE QUADRA Link and Mini-Tubs. Power is courtesy of a hi-revving Mast Motorsports LS7 and the car’s 3-piece 5 spoke wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich KDW Tires (Front: 295/35R18, Rear: 335/30R18).

Kyle’s driver’s resume is as impressive as they come including dozen’s of AutoCross event wins,  seat in Team BFG’s Baja 1000 entry in 2010, multiple Dirt Late Model and Dirt Midget Wins and more. Not only is he fast on the track, he was fast in academics as well, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Missouri – Rolla. A stint at General Motors as a suspension development engineer followed before opening Detroit Speed & Engineering with his wife Stacy over a decade ago.

“Winning the Goodguys Vendor Autocross Championship is a big deal to me,” he said.  “We have supported the Goodguys Autocrosses from the start. It’s great to see how competitive the events are now and the amount of competitors participating.  It’s tough out there every weekend. Goodguys events draw the best of the best racers from each part of the country.  We see every win as a big accomplishment and don’t take it for granted.   I appreciate the foresight and effort that the Goodguys organization commits to the Autocross and I am happy to once again have Detroit Speed as a part of it in 2012.”

The Vendor class will be replaced in 2012 with the all new “PRO” class. To read about it click here: http://www.good-guys.com/events/goodguys-autocross
