Greg Pickett ‘s Jaguar XKR Trans Am racer will highlight a special race car exhibit at next weekend’s 16th Summer Get-Together (May 30 & 31) at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. Pickett, 62, of Alamo has road raced for years and currently competes in the Muscle Milk Trans Am Series events across the country. The Pickett racing team (led by team manager and longtime Goodguys associate Jim Dunford) will also bring a DP (Daytona Prototype) from the Rolex Grand Am Series to the Summer Get-Together.
Pickett’s Jag XKR features a full tube frame, carbon body, 350-inch Ford Roush V8 w/850 horsepower and weighs in at 2,600lbs. It’s the current track record holder at both Infineon Raceway and Road Atlanta.
The car runs in excess of 200mph on closed road courses. It produces acceleration, lateral and braking G force ratings as high as 3G’s or more. At its home track (Infineon Raceway in Sonoma) the car has run a full five seconds quicker than the fastest NASCAR stock car at the annual SaveMart 350 at Infineon.
As many as twenty-five unique race cars from various forms of motorsport will fill the Young California Building at the Summer Get-Together. Make sure and check out the exhibit!
