Stanford’s “Goodguys Missile” Voted #1

Veteran illustrator and designer Steve Stanford of was voted in as the winner of the Goodguys 2012 Giveaway Car Design Contest! The contest, which ran on the entire month of February featured a perspective design of a 1971 Dodge Challenger from 18 of the industry’s top artists and designers. When all the votes were tallied, it was Stanford’s design, “The Goodguys Missile” which won out.

Playing off the theme of Don Carlton’s legendary “Motown Missile” ’70 Challenger Pro Stock race car, the “Goodguys Missle” has a killer stance, the famed “Missile” paint scheme and even a narrowed hood scoop. Power will come from a 426 Mopar crate engine and manual transmission.

Curt Ukasik and the gang at RPM Hot Rods in Warrendale, PA will build the car based on Stanford’s design. Construction will begin this spring. Ukasik hopes to debut the car in bare metal at the 14th PPG Nationals, July 8-10, 2011 in Columbus, OH.

Stay tuned for more on this exciting project.
