Daryl Wolfswinkel’s sleek black ’34 Ford was named America’s Most Beautiful Roadster at the 62nd Grand National Roadster Show this past weekend in Pomona, CA.
Built by Doug Jerger and the team at Squeeg’s Kustoms in Chandler, AZ, Wolfswinkel’s traditionally styled full fendered roadster is powered by a ground pounding 427 big block Chevy featuring a Dart aluminum block and heads and Hilborn injection finished in brushed aluminum. A rich brown leather interior and nickel plated Halibrand wheels round out this flawless hot rod.
For this year’s contest, show producer John Buck completely revamped the AMBR judging process, calling on experts such as Pete Chapouris, Pat Ganahl, Thom Taylor and others to judge the roadsters in contention. The cars were actually judged on Wednesday before the show started so the judges could see the cars on the ground to get proper sight lines and to see the roadsters closed up with no doors or hoods open. They even judged the cars with the drivers in them to “see how the total package fit together.”
A tip of the cap to the gang at Squeeg’s Kustoms!
